The Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Thessaly has the honor of hosting Dr. Philip Bell, specialist sports doctor and head of the medical team of the Wimbledon tournament (2000-2021), Mr. Apostolos Michalakas, physiotherapist of the National Tennis Team, Mr. Konstantinos Moutaftsi, physiotherapist , and Mr. Dimitrios Mizios, federal tennis coach, who will give lectures at the scientific event entitled “TENNIS MEDICINE”, which will take place in the large “Hippokratis” amphitheater of the School of Medicine, in Biopolis, Larissa on April 24, 2023 and time 16.00.
The lectures of the scientific event are of particular interest to Orthopedic and General Medicine doctors, Physiotherapists, Tennis Coaches, to all health professionals involved in the care of athletes, but also in general to those who love tennis.
Dr Philip Bell, in addition to being head of Wimbledon’s medical team, has been a physician to the London Olympics (2012), England National Cricket Team (1995-2001), Derby County Football Club and Convent Garden Royal Ballet School . He was an elected member of the FSEM (Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine) council, the scientific society BASEM (British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine) and the BIMM (British Institute of Musculoskeletal Medicine).
Mr. Apostolos Michalakas is a physical therapist, who operates in Thessaloniki. He has extensive experience with high level athletes, having covered numerous ITF (International Tennis Federation) and Tennis Europe tournaments.
Mr. Konstantinos Moutaftsis is a physical therapist and PhD candidate at the International University of Greece. It is active in the coverage of EFOA (Hellenic Philatelic Tennis Federation) tennis tournaments.
Mr. Dimitrios Mizios is a graduate of physical education with postgraduate studies in the field of human performance and health. He has been a tennis coach since 1996, has been working in education since 2000 and is a federal coach since 2020. The lectures of the day will be held in English by Dr Philip Bell and in Greek with English slides by the other speakers. The entrance is free.
