Three generations of smiles and excitement filled the room as the only child—a granddaughter and daughter—from Megalonisso arrived to enroll in the Medical Degree English Program. This was a moment that Prof. Dimitris Bogdanos, the Director of Studies at the Medical Degree English Program of the University of Thessaly, seized to meet the family, knowing it may be six years before they would all gather again at the granddaughter’s swearing-in ceremony. The proud mother, with roots tracing back to Thessaly, had every reason to celebrate her daughter’s studies in the capital and as a noblewoman of the Thessalian plain.
“Take care of my granddaughter,” she expressed. “You are leaving her in good hands.” assured Prof. Bogdanos.
The majority of young students in the English Department are Greek Cypriots who have chosen Larissa over other institutions, both domestically and internationally, to pursue their dreams. The community welcomes them with joy and a strong sense of responsibility, promising these students and their families that Larissa will embrace them wholeheartedly.
