The University of Thessaly’s Department of Medicine confers this distinction in recognition of Professor Stergios Zacharoulis’s distinguished international career and his contribution to paediatric neuro-oncology. His work focuses on developing innovative treatments for childhood brain tumours and translating advances in research into clinical practice. Currently Director of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Professor Zacharoulis began his journey in Larissa, lending particular significance to this recognition by his hometown university. The honorary doctorate ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, at 19:00, at the “Hippocrates” Amphitheatre, Biopolis, Larissa.
