Participation in an Autism Event Using VR Technology
On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the University of Thessaly Volunteers attended an event organized by the Informal Health Network of the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias and Almyros. The event aimed to raise awareness and provide an experiential understanding of the autism spectrum. Through the use of Virtual Reality (VR) technology, the volunteers had the opportunity to experience the sensory overload faced by individuals on the autism spectrum. This innovative approach offered valuable knowledge and sensitivity, enhancing understanding of how individuals with autism perceive the world.

Support for the “5th Hercules Goritsa Trail” Race
On Sunday, October 13, 2024, the Volunteers of the University of Thessaly took part in organizing and supporting the “5th Hercules Goritsa Trail,” a popular mountain running race. The volunteers helped ensure the smooth conduct of the race, supporting participants and enforcing all safety rules. This activity highlighted the importance of teamwork and collaboration, while also promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

Event for World White Cane Day
As part of World White Cane Awareness Day on Monday, October 14, 2024, the University of Thessaly Volunteers participated in an event organized by the Magnetes Blind Association, in collaboration with the Informal Health Network of the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias and Almyros and the Secondary Education of Magnesia. The event aimed to raise awareness among high school students in Volos about the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals. Participants had the opportunity to use white canes, experiencing mobility as visually impaired persons. This action provided deep insight into the daily life of blind individuals and promoted social awareness and inclusion.
