The Faculty of Medicine has established its presence throughout central Greece through the quality and high level tertiary health services provided by the University Hospital of Larissa. Particular emphasis has been placed not only on diagnosis and treatment but also on the prevention of diseases affecting the general population and specific categories of people. To a large extent, an epidemiological record has been made of the diseases that concern the population of central Greece, while preventive control programs have been developed. Also, through informative events as well as with printed material, an attempt has been made to inform the general population about the most common diseases that concern the community. In addition, on an annual basis, visits of Lyceum students to the premises of the Faculty of Medicine are organized in order to be informed about the activities of the Faculty in order to contribute to the formation of the professional orientation of students and to inform them about first aid in case emergency.

It is noteworthy that a group of students headed by faculty members was sent to Kenya, Africa, to contribute to the work of the Orthodox Mission there in informing and preventing diseases affecting the local population. Additional faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine have participated in various humanitarian missions (Doctors of the World, Unicef etc.). It is worth mentioning the support of the "Social Pharmacy" of the city of Larissa, which is located in the infrastructure of the Faculty (Katsigra building). Also, the Faculty of Medicine organizes in collaboration with national and international organizations large-scale scientific conferences with the participation of renowned scientists which are attended by an extremely large number of participants. This activity has contributed significantly to the development of conference tourism with multiple economic benefits for the city of Larissa and the whole of Thessaly. Finally, the Faculty of Medicine in its thirty-year life has also been distinguished for the rich cultural activity (Musical ensembles and theatrical group of the University of Thessaly) by organizing many events related to painting exhibitions and music events in collaboration with various local organizations.
