By decision of the Faculty Assembly and in accordance with the current legislation, for each newly admitted student of the Medical Degree English Program, a faculty member is appointed as a Study Adviser, whose role is advisory during the studies in academic matters. The freshman student is informed of the name of his Adviser upon enrollment in the Faculty and can utilize his knowledge and experience throughout his studies. The term of the Study Adviser is annual, starting on the 1st of September of each academic year and can be renewed with the consent of the interested party.
The Study Adviser, in collaboration with the student support service, advises and supports in particular first-year students, in order to facilitate their transition from secondary to tertiary education. It also advises and informs all students on issues of their studies and their subsequent professional career. The Study Adviser is not responsible for providing advice on procedural issues or reminding the student of his/her obligations. Its utilization is up to the student, as his role is not decisive but advisory and in fact not exclusively, as the student can consult other teachers, especially the teachers of the courses he intends to choose.
The University of Thessaly does not tolerate any form of direct or indirect discrimination, victimization, intimidation or harassment and ensures the principle of equal treatment. The policy of the University of Thessaly to address the above issues aims to develop an academic and work environment in which harassment and bullying have no place and where all members of the academic community will have the assurance that their problem will be addressed discreetly and with responsibility from the Foundation.
The Faculty of Medicine pays special attention to dealing with possible problems of students/staff and is particularly sensitive to complaint management. The report of complaints concerning issues of the students of the Medical Degree English Program or grades can be made electronically at the address complaints.medical.edu@uth.gr.
The management is done through the human resources of the Secretariat, directly and discreetly and in serious cases by the Administration of the Department.
The aim of the ACCESS service of the University of Thessaly is to record the needs of students with special educational needs and / or disabilities and their teachers, as well as their information and support. Also, an important mission of ACCESS is the operational intervention in the premises of the University with the aim of improving their accessibility. If students with disabilities want support, fellow students take on the role of assistants in order to enhance the access of their fellow students. Specifically, the student-assistants in collaboration with faculty members can assist the students with disabilities in their movement within the premises of the University, in completing applications, in attending courses, in converting various files into another format, in preparing them for the exams. Finally, for the deaf students of the University of Thessaly, the possibility of interpretation in the Greek sign language is given.
