The University of Thessaly is taking a significant step forward with the establishment of its first English-Taught Undergraduate Medical Degree Program, following a decision by the University Senate. The program will be offered by the Faculty of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences under the title “Medical Degree, Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, University of Thessaly.”
The program is expected to commence in the 2023–2024 academic year, marking the culmination of several months of dedicated effort and the submission of a comprehensive, thoroughly documented proposal. This initiative aims to further strengthen the University’s development and enhance its international outlook and global engagement.
The University of Thessaly has demonstrated a consistently upward trajectory in recent years. Its progress is reflected in its inclusion among the top 5% of universities worldwide for the third consecutive year, according to the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).
Published for the eleventh consecutive year, the CWUR rankings evaluated 19,788 universities worldwide, identifying the top 2,000 institutions. Among these were 12 Greek universities, including the University of Thessaly.
