The Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences at the University of Thessaly appointed Professor Konstantinos G. Lyketsos as an Honorary Doctor. The ceremony occurred on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 18:30, at the “Hippocrates” Amphitheater, at Viopolis, Larissa.

Professor Konstantinos G. Lyketsos is a Greek physician with a long academic career in teaching, research, and clinical practice. He holds the Elizabeth Plank Althouse Chair at Johns Hopkins University in the USA and is the Director of the Center for Personalized Medicine for Alzheimer’s Disease at Johns Hopkins. A world-renowned expert in the care and therapeutic management of patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related forms of dementia, he develops biomarkers to accelerate the development of treatments for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, while also designing and conducting groundbreaking clinical trials.

His research interests include the epidemiology of dementia, the epidemiology and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders in dementia, and the etiology and impact of mood disorders in Alzheimer’s patients. He has developed one of the largest and most successful academic neuropsychiatry programs in the U.S., specializing in dementia and brain injury. Extremely active in research and clinical practice, he is considered a global leader in issues related to geriatrics and Alzheimer ‘s-related dementia.

For more than ten years, Dr. Lyketsos, whose work in the epidemiology and treatment of the neuropsychiatric features of dementia is considered innovative, has been listed in the official “America’s Top Doctors.”

His published works in the field of Neurosciences are considered milestones in the literature.
