New self-financed Medical Degree English Program starts at the University of Thessaly on October 7. The Program will welcome 40 foreign students in Larissa. This is the first foreign language department at this University and the fourth in a row, after the Universities of Thessaloniki, Athens and Crete.

The Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly, which according to the international rankings is between the 300-400 positions, has been operating in Larissa since 1985. As for the newly established Medical Degree English Program, it will operate in parallel with the corresponding Greek-speaking one, Theofilos Karahalios told ERT3 President of the Medical School of Larissa.

Regarding their origin, most new incoming medical students will come from Cyprus but there will also be students from France, Britain, Ireland, Belgium, Slovakia, Bulgaria, India, Saudi Arabia as well as one of the United States. A total of 350 interested parties from 19 countries of the world applied to the school. Of these, 172 met the criteria and took a nationwide exam, and then 40 people were selected by interview, said Dimitris Bogdanos, Professor of Pathology.

Tuition fees for the Medical Degree English Program amount to €12,000 per year.
